Warehouse

Move physical goods: receiving, putaway, picking, shipping, carriers, transfers, and cycle counts.

The warehouse handles the physical handling of goods: getting material in the door and onto a shelf, and getting finished orders out the door to a customer. Every action here posts a transaction to Inventory so the count stays accurate.

It covers:

  • Receiving takes in material against a purchase order and checks it in.
  • Putaway moves received stock from the dock to its storage location.
  • Fulfillment is the pick queue: turning released orders into picked, packed shipments.
  • Shipments are the outbound packages, with their tracking and status.
  • Carriers are the shipping services you use and their account configuration.
  • Transfers move stock between locations or sites.
  • Counts are cycle counts that reconcile recorded stock against what is physically on the shelf.

Inbound and outbound

The warehouse runs two parallel tracks, inbound and outbound:

Warehouse inbound and outbound lanes: Inbound runs Purchase order to Receive to Putaway to Stock on shelf; Outbound runs Released order to Pick to Ship to Shipment to customer

  • Inbound starts from a purchasing PO and ends with stock available in inventory.
  • Outbound starts from a released sales order and ends with a shipment the customer can track.
  • Transfers and counts keep stock in the right place and the numbers true between those flows.

The Overview dashboard surfaces the pick queue, inbound work, recent movements, and exceptions that need attention.

Terminals

Floor staff often work the warehouse from a dedicated kiosk rather than the full app. See Terminals.
