WorkCell started in Detroit, surrounded by shops running on software written before the web and spreadsheets nobody fully trusts. The same job gets re-keyed into three systems, the schedule lives in someone's head, and the quote and the invoice never quite agree. None of that is a people problem. It is what happens when five systems each hold a piece of the truth.
One system that carries a job from quote to shipment without anything being retyped. Versioned BOMs and routings, finite scheduling against real capacity, lot and serial traceability that holds through the whole build, and job costing that lands as the floor reports it. Not a legacy ERP with features bolted on, and not five tools stitched together.
This city built modern manufacturing, and the shops here are still the ones we learn from. We would rather stand next to someone running a part than theorize about how a shop works from somewhere else.
