Quality
Verify work and close the loop on problems: inspections, NCRs, corrective actions, and inspection templates.
Quality is how you check that work meets spec and how you handle it when it does not. It spans the moment of inspection through the long-term corrective action that stops a problem recurring.
It covers:
- Inspections record the checks performed against incoming material, in-process work, or finished goods, scored against a template.
- NCRs (nonconformance reports) capture a specific failure: what was wrong, on what, how much, and what was done with it (use as is, rework, scrap, return).
- CAPA (corrective and preventive action) tackles the root cause behind recurring or significant nonconformances so they stop happening.
- Templates define what an inspection checks: the characteristics, limits, and pass/fail criteria reused across inspections.
How problems flow
The following diagram shows how a problem flows from inspection to a lasting fix:
- An inspection runs against a template. A pass moves the work on.
- A failure raises an NCR, which records the disposition of the affected material.
- When a pattern emerges, a CAPA drives the investigation and the lasting fix.
The Overview dashboard tracks the health signals: first pass yield, open NCRs, a defect Pareto, and overdue CAPAs.
Template configuration
Building and maintaining inspection templates is an admin-level task; the details are in the in-app help center for signed-in customers.
The how-tos
- Run an inspection against a template and complete it to a pass or fail. See Run an inspection.
- Raise an NCR for a nonconformance and work it to a disposition. See Raise an NCR.
- Manage a CAPA through its 8D steps to a lasting fix. See Manage a CAPA.
For what each state means, see Inspection statuses, NCR statuses, and CAPA statuses.
