Trace a lot
Follow a lot or serial both directions, from the material it came from to the customers it reached.
Traceability answers the recall question both ways: what a unit was made from, and where it ended up. Because every movement is logged against a lot or serial, Workcell can walk that history for you.
Run a trace
- Go to Inventory > Traceability.
- Enter a lot number or serial number and search.
- The screen returns two views:
- Where from (backward) - the material that went into this lot: the vendor receipt it came from, or the production work order that built it and the components that order consumed.
- Where used (forward) - where this lot went: the work orders that consumed it, the lots produced from it, and the customer shipments it reached.
Each step in the chain is a node you can open to see its detail (quantities, dates, the related record).
When to use it
- A supplier flags a defective batch: trace where used to find every finished unit and customer affected.
- A customer reports a problem with a finished unit: trace where from to find the exact materials and suppliers behind it.
Where to go next
- Manage the lots and serials this draws on in Track lots and serials.
- See where material is built and consumed in Production.
