Quality evidence has a habit of ending up where nobody can find it again. Dimensions go on the traveler, a rejection form gets taped to the bin, and a corrective action sits in a document folder, so the lot, the operation and the finding are never connected to each other. WorkCell keeps all three as records on the same database as the job. An inspection plan names the characteristics for an item revision, and each measurement is a value against one of those characteristics rather than free text. Inspection Plans By Revision
An inspection plan belongs to an item revision and holds ordered characteristics, each with a method, a written specification, a sample size, and a nominal with lower and upper limits in a unit of measure. What gets checked is settled before the shift starts.
Measurements Against Characteristics
An inspection holds one measurement per characteristic, carrying the measured value, a pass flag and notes. Because the measurement points at the characteristic it answers, a result can be counted across jobs instead of sitting in a comment nobody can query.
Receipt To Serial Coverage
One inspection record attaches to a receipt line, a work order operation, a lot or a serial, so receiving inspection, in-process checks and final acceptance are the same record type, each carrying quantity inspected, accepted and rejected with the inspector and the time.
Nonconformance Lifecycle
A nonconformance carries its own number, the item revision, the quantity, the source and the specification that was missed, and moves from open through contained, under review, dispositioned and closed. Containment records who contained it and when, so a hold is a record rather than a tag.
Material Review As Records
Each review on a nonconformance is its own row with a reviewer, a role of quality, engineering, manufacturing or customer, a decision and a comment. The disposition of use as is, rework, repair, scrap, return to supplier or regrade carries a written justification.
Corrective Action Closure
A corrective action is a separate record with an owner, a due date, a root cause, the corrective and preventive action taken, and an effectiveness check. It moves through investigating, implementing and verifying, and the nonconformances that triggered it stay linked to it.
Quality Overview Screen
The overview reads the live records rather than a report run: first pass rate, quantity accepted against quantity rejected over the period, characteristics measured and failed, nonconformances by source and by disposition, what is awaiting containment, and corrective actions past due.

What does an inspection plan actually contain?
A plan is attached to one item revision and holds characteristics in sequence. Each characteristic names what is being checked, the method used to check it, the written specification, the sample size, and whether it is an attribute or a measured value. A measured characteristic can carry a nominal with a lower and an upper limit in a unit of measure.
