Work Order Management Software
Production work orders linked to BOMs, routing, inventory, and costing. Track labor, material, and WIP from release to close - not just maintenance tickets.
Paper travelers wander the shop, scheduling lives in a spreadsheet, labor hours get retyped on Fridays, and supervisors can't say what a job actually cost until it ships. WorkCell runs every work order against a live BOM and routing, captures clock-ins, part counts, and scrap codes at the station, and keeps WIP visible from release to close.
Paper Travelers Vanish
Printed travelers get coffee spilled on them, sit in toolboxes for two shifts, and come back half unsigned, leaving no real work order tracking on the floor.
Status Is Always a Guess
Without a real work order system, schedulers call the floor, operators shrug, and by the time a status reaches the customer it is already wrong.
Job Costing Is Fiction
Labor hours are retyped weekly, material is estimated from the BOM instead of actuals, and scrap never posts, so quoted margins and real margins disagree.
BOM-Linked Work Orders
Every work order is tied to a specific BOM revision, so components, substitutes, and reference designators flow from engineering to the floor without retyping.
Operation Routing
Work orders move through a defined sequence of operations with work centers, setup and run times, and tooling, so operators see the next step and planners see where every job sits.
Material And Labor Capture
Operators clock onto operations and issue material at the lot and serial level from a station terminal, and every consumption posts to the work order in real time.
Real-Time WIP And Status
Every work order's location, operation, quantity complete, and actual cost is visible to planners and customer service on the same board, which is what a modern work order management software should do.

Shop Floor
Operators clock onto work order operations, issue material, report quantities, and sign off at each step directly from the station.
Scheduling
Finite capacity scheduling sequences work orders across work centers using routing times and material availability from the WO itself.
Inventory
Material reservations, lot-level issues, and finished goods receipts flow between work orders and inventory without double entry.
What's the difference between a production work order and a maintenance work order?
A production work order authorizes building a part and carries a BOM, a routing, and job cost. A maintenance work order is a repair ticket for equipment, which is why CMMS tools can't run production.
How does the work order process connect to job costing?
Every material issue, labor clock-in, and scrap transaction posts to the work order's actual cost in real time. Standard cost is captured at WO creation from the BOM and routing, so closing a job flushes the variance to the GL automatically.
Can we replace paper travelers with digital work orders?
Yes. Operators open the work order on a tablet, see the drawing, operation instructions, material list, and quality checks, then clock on, issue material, and sign off operations without paper.
