Barcode Software for Manufacturing
Manufacturing barcode software for handheld and fixed scanners, GS1-compliant label printing, and lot and serial traceability across receiving, WIP, and shipping. Built for discrete manufacturers running real production.
Manual receiving logs drift, pickers grab the wrong bin, and label printers spit out GS1 and UDI formats that get rejected at the customer dock. WorkCell runs barcode scanning, lot and serial capture, and compliant label printing on the same inventory and work order data your floor already uses.
Inventory that lies
Without a barcode inventory system, every material move is a manual transaction, on-hand counts drift by shift end, and planners stop trusting MRP entirely.
Labels that fail the customer routing guide
Tier-1 automotive, retail, and aerospace barcode labels with the wrong GS1 AI or symbology get refused at the dock and land as chargebacks on the next invoice.
Traceability nobody can actually run
Lot and serial data scattered across ERP, spreadsheets, and paper travelers turns a one-hour genealogy pull into a one-week scramble when a defect is reported.
Receiving and putaway
Scan supplier barcode labels at the dock to match open PO lines, capture lot and expiration from GS1-128, print license plates, and direct receivers to the right bin.
WIP tracking and job clock-ins
Barcode scanning for manufacturing work orders captures clock-ins, material consumption, scrap, and producing container quantities in real time so supervisors see live WIP without walking the floor.
Warehouse picking, packing, and shipping
Scan-verified picks drive the warehouse barcode scanning system from pick list to pack station to carrier-compliant ASN and SSCC-18 labels for ground, LTL, and parcel.
GS1, UDI, and industry label templates
Built-in templates for GS1-128, FDA UDI, Mil-Std-129, AIAG B-10, and major retail ASN formats, with native ZPL II output to Zebra, Honeywell, and SATO printers.

Inventory
Real-time stock by bin, lot, and serial. This is the ledger every barcode scan posts against, from receiving to shipping.
Shop Floor
Operator clock-ins, WIP container scans, and material issues that turn handheld scanners into a live production tracking layer.
Shipping
Carrier-compliant ASN, SSCC-18, and parcel labels generated from the same shipment data the warehouse picks against.
What barcode symbologies should manufacturers use?
Code 128 and GS1-128 are the workhorses for discrete manufacturing, encoding lot, expiration, serial, and quantity in one barcode. Data Matrix is required for FDA UDI and direct part marking on aerospace and automotive components, and WorkCell generates and reads all of them.
Do I need GS1 compliance for my barcode labels?
If you sell into automotive Tier-1, retail, pharma, food, or medical device, yes, because customer routing guides require GS1-128 with the right Application Identifiers. WorkCell ships GS1-compliant templates either way.
What warehouse barcode scanner hardware does WorkCell support?
Any HID-class USB or Bluetooth scanner works out of the box, and for industrial manufacturing barcode scanner deployments we integrate natively with Zebra TC Android handhelds, Honeywell CT and Granit, Cognex DataMan fixed mounts, and Datalogic Memor devices.
